Enter your thoughts on number 830 here. Please, no spamming, trolling, phreaking or developing ground breaking math curriculi. Ah, the classic lazy post-modern approach: "I don't care how anything works, as long as it does." Why not use calculators from first grade on? Nobody needs to be able to add to numbers manually anyway, what sense would that make? I still wonder why we still learn to walk, as there are electric wheelchairs around for quite some time now... > Ah, yes, the tradition for the sake of tradition approach: "I don't care if it works better the new way, the old way's just fine". Let's lie to kids about how calculators are used in the real world, and ban them from all math classes, even in college! Who cares that the world is going to change whether we like it or not, we can't let our student change from the ancient ways! >> I'm a high school student and calculators are sanctioned and used everywhere. Not that you need it, but so that you know it. Oh, and I almost forgot: You forget or underestimate the value of metalearning. Without having to learn stuff like this, you don't learn how to learn stuff like this when you might need to. >>>+1. It's related to frequency-domain representation of the time component of a waveform and represents part of the orientation of a cycle at a point in time. At the most fundamental level, all that exists in the world are exponential decays and oscillations. e is for the decay part, and tau and i are for the oscillating part. This just brings everything together.
