Enter your thoughts on the comic here. Please, no spamming, trolling, or phreaking. current, not curent*. Look at panel one. int N = -2147483648*10^-10; Despite capitalism being a good idea on paper with the invisible hand theory and all, capitalists ultimately do what is best for their pocketbook, not what is best for everyone else. Ergo, certain industries need to be regulated (and ensure regulators are not in bed with the capitalists, as seems to have been the case with the oil industry regulators responsible for overseeing this oil platform before it went boom). (Nth post). >A good way of regulating is, as well as having laws, having a government owned or run business in the sector competing with the others. Of course this works better with shopping chains than oil drilling companies... >>You don't see a slight conflict of interest there? >>Another good way of regulating: Actually enforce the laws that are in place. >>>Oh come on, be realistic. >>>>yah when has that ever been done >>>>Lawls? We don't need no steenkin' laws - we have consumer cohice! Yes, because cohice works great when there is a lack of cohices. The government is just a large monopoly, albeit one that supposedly represents the wishes of the people, of course, if you're one of the 60% who didn't vote for them then you're screwed. The moral of the story is... GET OFF YOUR LAZY BUTT AND VOTE! If you don't, then it's your own fault when the government doesn't represent your wishes. >I like being in a country with compulsory voting. Until voting day comes along. Does anybody know what good it's supposed to do to have a govt operated competition within the otherwise free market? Is there a name for that idea, something I can wikipedia? >"mixed economy" ? >>Thanks >>>and now here is the bill for my consultancy fee... :) >>>>I'm surprised to find this thread still going on in a days old comic... >>>>>I'm not :) >In soviet russia market control government >>Wait, no it doesn't. >>I think you mean in capitalist america >>>In Soviet Russia, road forks you. a co to?
